I was just alerted by a client to a new kind of phishing email that is going around. I haven't received it, but when the client forwarded it to me, I knew there was something not right, since we don't use GoDaddy for our web hosting.
It's never smart to click on an email link, whether or not you are certain that it's legitimately an email from a source that you trust. Many people have been scammed by doing so, especially with link to what they thought was their bank or Paypal account.
Email Subject: Status Alert: Potential risk to the server.
Dear Valued GoDaddy Customer.
Your account contains more than 937 directories and may pose a potential performance risk to the server.
Please reduce the number of directories for your account to prevent possible account deactivation.
In order to prevent your account from being locked out we recommend that you create special tmp directory.
Or use the link below:

Sincerely,
GoDaddy technical support

If you click on the "official looking" link they provide, you would be directed to a website that ends in .ru, where they would be able to capture your login information.
This kind of phishing technique doesn't seem to have the value that it would have in accessing a bank account, but it certainly could cause a headache.
